GEIGER OF AUSTRIA
25 YEAR OF SUCCESS AND COUNTING
Some things have lasting value, regardless of time and place.
Geiger fashion is one of those things. A timeless style with clean
lines, which translate new trends into unique Walk creations that,
find admirers around the globe.
When in 1975 Alice and C.J. Neil Kvasnak started offering Geiger in their boutique „Skihaus“ in Middlebury, Vermont the Tyrolean
brand took off like a rocket. In their first season they sold 30,000
pieces of Geiger. Due to their huge success the Geiger
management appointed the Kvasnak’s to coordinate sales for the
entire USA.
The excitement in which the American customers embraced Geiger Walk trends created a real “Geiger-boom”. Fashion made
in Schwaz, Tyrol soon enjoyed a real “cult” status and Geiger fans
started saying “It’s a Geiger” when they were talking about Walk
(boiled wool) jackets.

“To produce where the money is earned” has been part of the
Geiger’s philosophy from the start. Hansjoerg Geiger, president of
the Geiger company, decided to stay true to this creed of social
responsibility. The Geiger company was grateful for the
overwhelming success in the US and wanted to give back to the
community by creating jobs in Middlebury, Vermont.
“Geiger of Austria, Inc.” was born!
In July of 1980 the groundbreaking ceremony took place in
Middlebury and in early 1981 Geiger of Austria, Inc. was
operational. In its business approach the Geiger daughter
company followed it’s mother’s lead: cutting edge marketing,
sensible branding strategies and a unfailing feel for fashion were
the motto behind the fashion-brand that stands for highest quality
standards and true craftsmanship.
Initially Geiger of Austria built a distribution network by partnering
with 350 exclusive boutiques across the country. Retail of Geiger fashion was so strong that the Geiger daughter company
could hardly keep up with the demand. Due to this overwhelming
success the Austrian Management decided in 1987 to offer Geiger
fashion in the US Fashion Capitol – New York!

Scoring high again it became clear that Geiger’s relaxed chic was
not only right for the “American Way of Life” but also for the “New
York Way of Life”. Geiger had something to offer for every taste:
from dress for success outfits to attire for social functions, from top couture chic to romantic notes. – Geiger fans loved the fashion
ideas in Walk qualities, which were so soft that they could be worn
on the bare skin.
Contributing to Geiger’s strong brand position was the flexibility of
the Geiger style concept. Geiger fashion works with all looks: the
relaxed jean outfit, the business suit or the ensemble for an evening affair by adding a touch of individuality and uniqueness.
To confirm Geiger’s success in the U.S.A. the “Merchandise
Mart Properties, Inc.”, and “Americas Mart” Atlanta, key
institutions of the American Fashion Market, recognized Geiger
with their prestigious design awards in 1996 and 2001. What
convinced the jurors - as well as buyers all over the country -
was Geiger’s international style, Geiger’s endless mix and match
options and Geiger’s special feel for fashion – all made from
nature’s finest and purest materials.
In a market that is considered difficult for European Fashion lines to set foot in, Geiger of Austria, Inc. has now established a dealer
network that counts 650 specialty boutiques all over
Northamerica. The secret to Geiger’s success is their commitment
to outstanding quality products and highest quality customer
service.

In 2007 Geiger of Austria, Inc. celebrated it’s 25th anniversary and
currently contributes more than 30% to Geiger’s sales worldwide.
All around a success story that is only possible through teamwork
between the Austrian and the US “Geiger people” which results in
this special charm and “European touch” that our customers value
so much.
