An eventful history

1906

Barbara Geiger founds "Bergland

Barbara Geiger lays the cornerstone of our family history and founds the "Bergland" in Schwaz in Tyrol. In 1927 Peter Geiger followed in his mother's footsteps and took over the management.

1956

Toni Sailer wears Geiger

The Geiger sweater becomes famous when the Austrian ski legend Toni Sailer brings home the Olympic victory in his Geiger knitted sweater. The sweater became the most photographed garment of its time.

1969

"Bergland" becomes GEIGER

The "Bergland" gets a new name and becomes GEIGER.

1975

Geiger goes America

Hansjörg Geiger takes over the management and brings the Tyrolean brand to America. "A Geiger" quickly became a synonym for the popular Geiger boiled jacket.

1989

Geiger conquers the Far East

Since the late 1980s, Tiroler Strick und Walk also goes to customers in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Korea.

1997

Barbara Geiger steps in

Barbara Geiger joins the family business in the fourth generation.

2003

Peter Geiger becomes Managing Director

The younger siblings Elisabeth and Peter Geiger also join the company. In 2005, Peter became managing director of Geiger alongside his father.

Family history is continued

A look into the future: With seven grandchildren, the next generation is already in the starting blocks and the family history will continue. We'll keep you up to date.
